Beauty Of Difference Choir

Many people are probably wondering who "BOD" is and what he or she does. Well it is neither a he or a she, but rather a they.

It all started with auditions for the BOD season 2 for Neville D's first live dvd recording in July this year. People from all different walks of life and culture came together to worship Jesus through their talent and gifting in music. We were really not tight when we rehearsed together because we hardly knew majority of the crowd who practiced for this special event and we slowly got to know each other every time we came together to rehearse, but we never really bonded. The day came for the dvd recording and we were placed into a room upstairs (backstage) for several hours with just each other's company. Something happened to us on that day that I cannot really explain. It went beyond the natural and something divine took place. It was like God was saying, "Let's put a diverse group of people together and let's teach them the beauty of diversity within the body". And to be honest, we do not all have this great deep friendship with everyone, but there is this great great sense of family and unity despite our differences.

So yesterday the choir came together in Kraaifontein to catch up and bond with each other and it worked out great because we brought our families with to enjoy the occasion.

If I could describe the emotion I got yesterday as we caught up on the few days we didn't see each other, it would definitely be REFRESHING! It was all about love and relationships. We stood in a circle at some point and just reflected on our BOD experience and awesome words of appreciation and thankfulness were released. Single mothers in the choir came. Family units came. Friends came. We all just came to relax and build relationship. It felt like a little heaven, it always does when we get together. At some point I thought like why must we go back to work tomorrow? Why can't we be touring with Neville in a tent like this one? Maybe in a few years or months or maybe not. Whatever Father wants.

I got the opportunity to say something in the circle, but I guess I turned shy. I probably would have burst out in tears which I don't mind doing but it is such a vulnerable place. People don't know this about me but I fall in love with people really quickly. Growing up I fell in love and a deep appreciation for God's people would begin to stir. I would literally cry in my bed at night because this pure love for my brothers and sisters in the kingdom grew very strongly.

Yesterday as we spent some time with each other, all I could see was how broken humanity is, and here we came together representing different races, lifestyles, cultures and personalities and we made it work! That love prevails over all! There is a unity more profound than what ever could be explained and there is a brokeness amongst us, but there is beauty in the brokeness. So this is the way I am wired,  no strange stuff, just pure love. I wish I could see you all much more and get to know you all much better.

So we ate a lot and laughed a lot. Time really flew, but we grew closer to each other as a team. Neville mentioned in his chat to us that we are an "unChoir". That simply means that we are a choir but also not a choir, because here we build relationship and we actually love one another. I think in the future as new people get the opportunity to experience this beauty that they will be so encouraged to love God and people more than before. In our "unChoir" two ladies were attacked after a rehearsal one night in a smash and grab situation. This really touched us and it became real, that relationship is precious and needed. Then another one of our friends lost a dear friend not too long ago. This made me realize as Rene shared her heart yesterday that we as the church, the body of Christ, is where we carry one another's burdens and where we keep each other's arms up in prayer and active support. In this group of people I think we can really be honest and be okay with sharing the vulnerable parts of our hearts and they would love us with a brotherly pure love in return. Yesterday was a special time indeed.

So I went home with a dear friend that I grew close to in one day, and the GPS lady took us onto a long route home to Retreat. Hahaha anyway it was fun and we got to talk a lot as we drove the highways of Cape Town. Oh I have to mention that I finally met Scott!!! An adorable boy of whom I have seen on one Facebook video singing "Nobody" by Neville D just in the week. He is just too cute and lovable, I think I am going to be his friend hahaha.

So who is Beauty Of Difference unChoir?
We just a group of people in need of God and in need of people. We love singing and being crazy, but above all we love being us. We recognize that we are nothing without Jesus and that we want to use this opportunity to be a voice in our nation and other nations in a time such as this!

We are BOD!

1 John 3:16
By this we know love that He laid down His life for us so that we can lay down our lives for our brothers. (My favourite scripture)

Shalom, Rowy.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL SOON ;)

Abba Father (poem)

Tonight as I walked in the dark I thought about what it would be like If you were here with me in flesh If you were here holding my hand ...
