From the beginning no one was worthy.
The imperfection is a part of our humanity, it is the place where we fail, the place where we regret. All over I look at humanity and I see the fault of man, the imperfections of the very nature of every fibre in our being. The vile words from our mouths, the harsh actions that we display. It is that issues that is deep in our hearts, the covers of fake masks and hypocrisy.
The bible says that we will be judged for every idol word that proceeds from our mouths. Now let's just wait there for a moment. If we evaluate ourselves, we can say that our books will be filled with idol words. The words of hurt and rejection, the words of judgement and false testimony against our brothers and sisters. The words of slander and gossip, the words of hatred and jealousy. The list is endless.
Then our actions and motives. These are the parts showing and the parts on the inside. The power struggle, the pride of the heart and the need to be higher than another.
I am not here to judge or point a finger in another's eyes, but I'd rather say I was talking about myself today. That I need Jesus and His love. Because I am not worthy, not even the least of this word. No one knows the life of 'worthy', except Jesus. He is man, He is God. But He remained worthy. So now we evaluate and look at our lives with honesty, and I say I have not turned to Him and now I am perfect or have it all together. No not at all. It is quite the opposite of what people might see from the outside. I am in more need of Him now that what I could ever think, because I am not worthy. I had to drink of that cup of wrath but the One who is worthy took it from the Father's hands and drank it for me.
Now where do we stand now?
We don't stand any more, but we kneel to the One who is worthy. For He has taken our garments and given us His garments. He took the scarlet of our sins and has shown us mercy and grace.
We still get tired. We still get scared. We still fall. We still have sin in our hearts. We still mess up. We still battle with our minds. We still have idols. We still bow down to other things and our time is still consumed.
But...
He walks with us and He changes us. He gives us a spirit of perseverance. He teaches us how to overcome. He walks us through the entire journey, if we want Him too. We get up after we fall. Even if we fall seven times, we will get up eight!
So next time you see us on a stage, or you see us preaching bible stuff, we have not conquered all, but we love the One who did and our eyes are fixed on Him. We do not profess that we are fine and that we are in that place of the okay. But we rely on the One who is always faithful, the One who is always true. That is the difference between a sinner and a sinner saved by grace.
No one is worthy and no one becomes worthy by their works or religion. Jesus made us worthy through His blood and sacrifice.
He alone is worthy. Come to Him who is worthy and He will wash you clean. The invitation is open.
