I contemplated in typing this blog when I felt inspired to this afternoon, because surely 'therapy' is not all that is in His hands. But there is a song on my heart that Bethel Music sang in one of their spontaneous sessions that really inspired this thought (Their video can be found on their Facebook Page).
Jenn and Brian Johnson and Amanda Cook started singing about their assurance in Christ. Jenn started off by singing, "You are taking perfect care of me. I don't have to worry about a thing". Amanda and Brian takes off after that. But this spontaneous song brings so much peace to me when I listen to it and I am sure it would do the same to you.
I am in this season of mess in my life. It is more like a mess where Jesus has to search and dig real deep in me to bring to surface whatever I have buried over the years. I have been battling a lot with my health lately, and it left me thinking and feeling a bit left behind, a little neglected. Then something really special happened to me today that left me thinking, "You know what God, Your eye is still on this broken soul". I am starting to feel more exposed, like my hurt is being surfaced and brought from deep under to be dealt with. There is something the Lord is showing me in all of this, that He has therapy in His hands! What I mean by that is, that He has the ability to walk with you through a process of hurt, abuse, neglect, deceit, corruption, and all these other things and He makes you look into the face of brokeness and shows you what He sees. But He has to take me through this, but there is a difference! He is walking with me hand in hand! You see the problem people have when they go for counselling or rehab is that they are doing it with man, and if you don't have Jesus, well then you just doing it with the expertise of just man. But when you have a relationship with Jesus (Not that mine is at the best place right now), He walks with you and the He uses the expertise of man and He walks a road no man or woman of that stature can walk you through.
There is therapy in the hands of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! I have friends that were raped, abused, battle with diseases, bloodline sicknesses and what not. But once they rely on their own flesh, they fall. We all fall! I have tried in my own strength so many times and the wind would just blow and I would be a goner! But the Father is here and He is no longer just waiting, but He is pursuing the hearts of many, many people walking around with hurt on this planet.
He has therapy in His hands. There is a problem when we are all just okay with just brushing the past under the carpet. Yes Jesus has brought some of us into redemption because we said yes to making Him Lord and living the way He wants us to live. But not many has said yes to the road of counsel! There is a road of counsel where deliverance takes place. Deliverance of all the people we had sex with, the people who we called close friends and now we hate them, the people we trusted with our lives but abused us. It is a place not many choose to dwell, but He is not asking any one of us to dwell there, because surely we will die there! But He urges us to walk with Him hand in hand through the place of deliverance!
He is telling me I should not be afraid!
I am reminded of this scripture in Matthew 10:29-31. Jesus teaches us about not being afraid of man, and then He says that not one of these sparrows hits the ground without the Father's will. Then Jesus says, surely you are more worth than the sparrows, for even the very hairs on your head are numbered. (I paraphrased) This scripture breaks my heart in a good way because the Father's eye is on everything! He does not miss a thing!
So whether we need emotional therapy or physical therapy, He is the Healer and He has the healing virtue locked up in Himself! He is all powerful! The question is not, can He heal or can He deliver? Because surely He can! And even though He chooses not to heal or deliver me I WILL STILL SERVE HIM!
Thank you for sharing this read with me. I relate just soo well with what you wrote i wonder where do you know me from... it is sad how so many people walk around with so much hurt in their lives. its even more sad how many people take their own lives because they feel like outcasts because of what happened to them or how others perceive them. i personally am blessed, too blessed that it hurts. the road i travelled is not for Tom Dirk and Harry and i dont wish for those who consider themselves my enemies to go through what i went through but hey, i keep praying that God help me to forgive completely so that the past never cross my mind no matter how down i can be. life is great when you have Jesus. im not perfect at all but He loves me iregadless so i will continue to serve Him for that
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to read this because I myself had a life I lived and it was God meeting me at the end of it. Healing and complete deliverance came to me, but it is an everyday walk with God that brought me out of the brokeness and the messes of my past. Forgiving those who's hurt me freed me forever.
