There is this phrase that keeps ringing into my head that Misty Edwards, one of my role models, have said in one of her teachings in the One Thing 2015 conference. She says, "You are a world within a world. This is not the end, we are in a shadow, we are in a womb. We have barely been born." That might be a lot for some to digest, but it is so true. I would just like to focus on the "you are a world within a world" part for this blogpost.
As mentioned before, I am in the process of this long journey of self discovery of who I am in Christ as a human being. This process has led to a very unfamiliar road of authenticity firstly to myself and then to those around me. The more I find out about myself, the more I feel like I am a mystery of beauty and wonder.
That is when I heard Misty say that we all are a world within a world. We have barely been born. For we do not know what we will be in the entirety of who we are yet. It is like in the sphere of eternity, we are still in the womb. That short 9 months of waiting just for a human to be born and walk the earth for years on end - if God wills. This is our 9 months period. We do not know the entirety of ourselves yet, until we see the face of the One we love and until we marry Him!
For two weeks now in our youth group, we have been dealing with the focus that "I am royalty". I truly feel like this generation, even those who are children of God, do not know who they are in Christ yet. We can go into much talk that the reason for this is because we do not spend time in God's Presence and we do not look into the mirror, which is the Word of God (our bible). It is in that book that we see our reflection, because it is in that book that we see what He thinks about us.
So many people ask this question, why did Jesus Christ have to die and go through the process of dying on the cross for us?
He understood this, that His Father had created human beings who fell short of His glory. Human beings who needed a Saviour, One who would restore what Adam and Eve had given up in the garden of Eden. He did not stop because His Father had looked upon, us even before we were born, and saw the worlds within a world, a precious one of whom there has never been on the earth before and whom there will never be again.
He went ahead and paid the price for me and you! A very high price, a price that needed the shedding of His very own blood.
Bringing it back home. I have had a crazy emotional week this last week simply because I see myself and it is quite overwhelming what I feel on the inside. I cannot really go into much depth. But there is a sense of mystery inside of each of us, that it is hard to explain. We are like the endless ocean of many facets to our being. What you see is not what you get, because we are still very much in the process.
I have come to learn that growing up, I have tend to draw back away from people because of all the hurt and pain I faced as a young child. And as I grew older, the question of whether I was an introvert or extrovert was a very real question in my mind. I had come to the conclusion that I am definitely more extroverted, but because I was hurt, I was a abused extrovert who then withdrew and turned lots of things inwardly. This I spoke about regarding physical affection in one of my previous blog posts. Gracefully, God is healing me on the inside and I am coming to terms with who I am.
It is sadly the case with many of us. We have become abused individuals walking around with masks and crutches to help us by with the every day walk of life. Some of us really do not allow people in because of many reasons. However, all this leads to the attack against our identity. It is who we are that the enemy does not want us to find out, because once we have the full understanding of who we are on the earth, then there is major trouble coming his way.
As you read this blog, whether you are 15 or 35 or maybe even 60+ it is never too late to start the journey of getting to know the world within yourself. There is a world ready to be explored and not abused by yourself. This is who we are. We are more than what meets the eye.
We are really more to what meets the eye. We are a world within a world.
